Your VAT post is going digital, AI agents turn out to egg each other on, and insurers are looking more closely at your damage photos.
Your post from the Belastingdienst can now go fully digital, starting with VAT
From 1 September, you choose whether letters about VAT still arrive on paper.
Since 1 September 2026, businesses can choose to get only digital post from the Belastingdienst (the Dutch tax office). It starts with messages about VAT (omzetbelasting) in Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk. Other letters will follow later. You decide whether you want digital only, or digital plus paper.
Background for subscribersFrom now on, you can choose whether to receive your VAT post from the Belastingdienst only digitally. Check where those messages arrive, so you don't miss a deadline. Also keep an eye on the IOAZ news: if this scheme disappears, a safety net vanishes for older self-employed people whose business no longer makes money. Research also shows that AI is now just normal work for service providers, and that AI agents egged each other on during a test to get around security together. That last point is a reminder to stay alert about who or what has access to your login details.
ChatGPT now falls under the strictest EU rules for large services
The European Commission has named ChatGPT, Reddit and Roblox as 'very large online platforms' under the Digital Services Act. This is because each reaches at least 45 million users a month in the EU. They must meet stricter rules by January 2027 at the latest, such as extra transparency and risk assessments. For businesses that use these tools for work, little changes right away.
