What is Copyright and AI?
Copyright and AI is about the question of who owns AI results, and whether an AI may use someone else's work.
Two questions come up here. One: was the AI allowed to train on other people's texts and images? Two: who owns what the AI makes? The rules are still very much in flux. An AI-made picture sometimes looks suspiciously like existing work, and then you take a risk if you just publish it.
Use AI results with common sense, especially commercially. Do not publish anything blindly if you are not sure whether it leans on someone else's work.
Put precisely
Two questions get tangled together here: was the AI allowed to learn from other people's work, and who owns what the AI produces. There is no settled answer yet to that second question. Copyright assumes a person's own creative choices.
Common misconception
That the work is yours because you wrote the prompt. A prompt alone usually is not enough for that.
