What is Deepfake?

A deepfake is a fake video, photo or voice made with AI that looks real but is not.

With AI you can copy someone's face or voice so convincingly that it looks real. That is how videos appear in which someone seems to say things they never said. Scammers use this, for instance with a faked voice of a director asking for an urgent payment. The technology is getting better and cheaper fast.

What this means for you

Do not blindly trust image and sound anymore, certainly not with a request for money or data. Check through a second, familiar channel whether it is real.
