What is Model?
A model is the trained program inside an AI tool that actually produces the text, the image or the answer.
Behind every AI tool sits a model. It is the result of training: all the patterns the system has learned, bundled into a file. Think of it as an extremely well-read helper that knows a lot in general, but does not know your client or project. ChatGPT and Copilot both run on such a model.
When you hear that 'a new model is out', it usually means the tool can suddenly do more, or do it better. The model is what makes the tool smart.
Put precisely
A model is a file of learned patterns, not a reference book it looks things up in. It does not remember your conversation by itself either: what a tool seems to remember gets sent along again each time.
Common misconception
That a newer or bigger model is always better for your work. Bigger is often more expensive and slower, and not necessarily stronger at your task.
