When are you better off not using AI?

Sample lesson from the Entrepreneurs Learning curve, "When you are better off not using AI".

AI is not always the right tool. In a sensitive customer conversation, a complaint, a final price agreement or a legal or tax detail, the human being is irreplaceable. AI is strong at fast and plenty. You are strong at precise, personal and accountable. VAT is where it goes wrong most: most services from self employed people fall under the high rate of 21 percent, and AI casually names 9 percent where that does not belong. It also gets confused quickly about the small business scheme (the KOR). That scheme is a choice, not something automatic. If your turnover is no more than 20,000 euros a year, you can sign up for it. Then you charge no VAT, but you also get no VAT back on your costs. Remember: an AI may prepare or summarise your VAT return, but it must never file it. You or your bookkeeper do that. A wrong VAT rate costs you money later.

Tip · try it yourself

Make yourself one short "do not" rule, for example: anything to do with VAT, contracts or the tax office I always check myself or with my bookkeeper, and I never file a return on a tool's word.
