Entrepreneurs edition
You can do more with ChatGPT's answers. At the same time, AI-written text is becoming easier to recognise in the EU.
ChatGPT now shows answers as charts and tools too
With GPT-6, ChatGPT shows more than just text. It also shows things you can use.
OpenAI is bringing GPT-6 to ChatGPT. The model can create answers with charts, buttons, forms and small tools. These could be a calculator or a tool for splitting costs. So you see more than just text. Paying users got GPT-6 Sol on 7 October. Free and Go users got GPT-6 Luna from 8 October. This is a smaller version. For Enterprise accounts, the administrator decides whether the feature is on. On the web, you can turn off the visuals with the ‘Layout and visuals’ setting. OpenAI says ChatGPT starts answering while it is still thinking. For questions where ChatGPT searches the web, the wait is 44 per cent shorter, according to OpenAI. This is compared with GPT-5.6 Instant. For business owners, this format could make figures or choices easier to review. A neat chart can still be based on a wrong answer, though. Do you pass figures on to a customer? Then it is a good idea to check them yourself first.
Background for subscribersThis edition shows that AI tools increasingly do more than show text. ChatGPT can now put an answer in a chart or a small calculator. Gemini can save standard instructions as a skill. This can make your work easier to follow. A neat format does not prove that the result is correct, though. The reports on watermarks and consumer trust point the same way: being open about your use of AI matters. A practical first step is to check figures from an AI answer yourself before they go to a customer.
ChatGPT text gets an invisible watermark in the EU
OpenAI says text from ChatGPT and Codex will get an invisible watermark in the EU over the coming weeks. It applies to all subscriptions, for users who are eligible. The technology is called textGrain. It very slightly steers word choice into a set pattern. A detector is software that can spot this kind of pattern. So the text does not need a visible label. OpenAI says the watermark stays in place when you copy and paste the text. Use of the watermark through the API is optional worldwide. It is off by default. The API is a link that lets businesses use OpenAI in their own software. For now, only approved researchers and organisations can use the detector. The watermark does not always work. If you change a quarter of the words, recognition drops from almost 100 per cent to less than 20 per cent, according to OpenAI. So text without a recognisable watermark does not prove that a person wrote it. Do you write with ChatGPT? Then your AI-written text is becoming easier to trace in Europe. Want to give customers clarity yourself? You could explain in one short sentence how AI helped.
