Microsoft 365 edition
This week, Copilot moves from your inbox to your calendar, Teams meetings get smarter and shareable, and Excel opens the door to Python.
Copilot now manages your Outlook email and your calendar in plain language
From August 2026, you can give Outlook instructions in plain sentences, from creating folders to managing appointments.
Copilot in Outlook now does more than summarise emails. You can ask in plain language to sort messages, assign categories, create folders, and manage inbox rules. It can also take action on meetings and appointments. New too: writing coaching is now built directly into Copilot Chat while you draft an email.
Background for subscribersCopilot in Outlook takes over tasks you normally do by hand, such as creating folders and setting up rules. In Teams, you can see all your meeting summaries from the past 30 days in one place, and share a useful Copilot answer with a colleague via a link. At the same time, the news about AI phishing and GDPR risks shows that more possibilities also demand more attention: check the sender, not just the language of an email, and do not paste customer data into a tool whose settings you do not know.
Word is getting a 'Catch Up' button for shared documents
Microsoft is working on a button in Word that lets Copilot summarise what others have changed while you were away. Useful for documents with multiple authors. At the end of August 2026, the feature was still listed as 'in development' on the roadmap.
