This week: AI that turns your spoken report into text, fake invoices that no longer stand out, and why your team needs to know what AI can and cannot do.

The main story

Nurses speak their notes, AI types the record

At the Wit-Gele Kruis, more than fifty home care nurses are testing an AI system that turns spoken observations into a patient record.

Home care nurses at Wit-Gele Kruis Oost-Vlaanderen simply speak their observations aloud. An AI system from the company Squire turns that speech into text and adds it to the patient record. This makes typing reports by hand after a home visit largely unnecessary. The goal is simple: more time for the care itself. Hogeschool PXL is testing a similar speech-to-text tool. There, the care worker stays fully responsible and checks and approves every field.

What this means for you
Less typing after a home visit, more time for the client

If you coordinate your team's reports, this is exactly where time can be saved. Speaking a report in a quiet spot can be quicker than typing. Two firm rules still apply: always read the spoken report back, because the margin of error is not zero, and do not speak sensitive information aloud where clients or others can hear. Only use a tool your organisation has approved, with the agreements set down in writing.

Rijnstate: AI helps nurses update care protocols faster

Rijnstate hospital in Arnhem is working on an AI-supported process that lets nurses work scientific literature into care protocols more quickly. The starting point is clear: AI does not take over the nurse's judgement, but supports the searching and reviewing work. Early experiences show time saved and more say for the nurses themselves.
