Apple is building AI into its apps for images, video and presentations, and subscribers get these features for free.

What this means for you

Apple adds AI features and thousands of extra effects to Creator Studio

Apple is expanding Creator Studio with AI features and extra effects. It is a bundle of creative apps for Mac, iPad and iPhone. The update comes to the App Store this November. Existing subscribers get it for free.

Pixelmator Pro gets Generate Fill. With it, you change a chosen part of an image by using plain language. Final Cut Pro for Mac gets MotionVFX: thousands of effects, transitions, titles and templates. In Final Cut Pro you can also edit in Pixelmator Pro. Apple's Content Hub now also includes video material. Logic Pro, the music app, also gets new features.

Keynote, Pages and Numbers get an AI assistant in beta. It understands the content of your document. In Keynote, it helps you design, animate and improve slides. According to Apple, it runs on models from Apple and OpenAI.

What does this mean for you? Do you make videos or edit photos with Apple apps and have a subscription? Then you get effects, titles and transitions inside the app at no extra cost. You can change part of a photo by describing what you want. Do you work with presentations or text? Then you get help from an assistant that knows your document. System requirements apply, such as a recent version of macOS or iPadOS.

Free image, effects and presentation help in Apple apps

An update for Creator Studio arrives in November, free for current subscribers. In Pixelmator Pro, you can change a selected part of a photo by describing what you want, and Final Cut Pro gets a large collection of effects, transitions and templates from MotionVFX. For proposals and client presentations, the new assistant in Keynote, Pages and Numbers helps with design, text and numbers, but it is still in beta, so it may still change.

Figma Weave keeps AI images linked to your design

Do you work with designs in Figma Design? Then you can link them directly to Figma Weave. You do this with the Figma node. It brings a frame from Figma Design into Weave. A frame is an area in Figma that holds your design. If the original frame changes, the linked node changes too. After that, you can package your way of working as a Weave tool, so colleagues can use it without building nodes themselves. Figma gives product images without a new photo shoot and campaign videos from existing images as examples.
