Edition 202631 · Monday 27 July 2026 · Clarity since 2026

This week: new brand rules for AI ads, Canva and Adobe that speed up your work, and an AI law that really starts to matter from August.

The main story

From July 2026, you have to state which adverts were made or edited with AI.

Google requires advertisers to add a label to ad images and text that were made or edited fully or partly with AI. Google Ads can also add that label itself for material made with Google tools. The rule rolls out step by step, also in Display & Video 360, Campaign Manager 360, Merchant Center and Ads Editor. Important: you stay responsible for the content yourself, even when AI decides the text and the targeting.

What this means for you
Lock AI labels into your delivery process

Agree with your team that every ad image made or heavily edited with AI gets a label straight away. That way you are not chasing the facts later with a campaign that has to go live. And because you stay responsible yourself, even when AI picks the text and targeting: read everything through before it goes out.

Since 1 July 2026, AI in Google Ads may by default make and choose your ad text, targeting groups and landing pages, without separate permission per campaign. All accounts are automatically bound to the new terms, without an opt-in. You stay responsible yourself for everything AI produces.
