From creating images in WhatsApp to new rules for AI labels: this week is about tools that make your work faster, and about knowing where your own eye is still truly needed.

Meta makes AI image creation free in WhatsApp and Instagram

With Muse Image, you now make pictures right where you already are: in your chats and Stories.

Meta released Muse Image on 7 July. It's an AI that creates images from a description. You can use it for free through Meta AI, WhatsApp, and Instagram Stories. The model can merge several photos into one image and can add readable text to a visual, handy for something like an infographic. In a ranking of image AIs, it takes second place, just behind OpenAI's GPT Image 2.

What this means for you
Show a mood quickly, without new software

You can now conjure up a mood image right in the app you already use, for a client meeting or a social post. Describe a direction ("warm wooden panelling, soft morning light") and use the result as a conversation opener. Note: it's a starting point to show a feeling, not an image you simply sell or publish. For the real work, your hand and materials still lead the way.

Google Photos: turning ordinary videos into stylised clips

Google launched Video Remix in Google Photos. You turn an ordinary video into a clip with a chosen style, such as watercolour, sketchbook, or oil paint. Cinematic lighting and background replacement are included too. You don't need any editing experience for it.
