Design edition
Not much big news this week, but plenty of handy tools: Canva becomes a talking design colleague, and your moodboards can move faster than ever.
Canva AI 2.0: from design tool to talking creative colleague
One instruction in plain language, and Canva builds a presentation, social post or video in your house style straight away.
Canva is rolling out a big update in late June and early July 2026: Canva AI 2.0. You now talk to it in plain language, and one request can set several Canva tools to work at once. There is also a new memory that remembers your brand style, plus links with Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, Zoom and HubSpot. On top of that, Canva is giving away the professional design tools Cavalry (animation) and Affinity (similar to Photoshop and InDesign) free to all users.
Background for subscribersUse Canva AI 2.0 to quickly make a first draft of a client presentation or social series, and let the memory remember your brand style. That saves you time on the dull layout work. But hold every result up against your own portfolio: is this unmistakably yours, or could anyone with the same tool have made it? The final image for a client stays your craft.
Google Pics for Workspace: designs where every element stays editable
Google launched 'Google Pics for Workspace', an AI design tool that generates images and layouts. The special part: every element in the design stays separately editable. Gmail Live also arrived, letting you ask your inbox questions out loud through Gemini.
