Entrepreneurs edition
This week: new AI in the tools you already have, stricter rules for chatbots, and scammers cloning voices.
New AI law: from 2 August you must say it's AI
Do you use ChatGPT, Copilot or a chatbot? Then new rules apply in a few weeks.
On 2 August 2026, the transparency rules of the EU AI Act come into force. A chatbot must make clear that it is AI, and images or text made by AI (such as a deepfake) must be labelled. Almost every Dutch business that uses such tools falls under the law. Fines can be steep. The strictest rules for high-risk systems have been postponed to December 2027.
Background for subscribersDo you use a chatbot on your website? Make it clear that it's an AI, not a person. Do you share images or videos you had AI make? Label them as AI-made. That's enough to meet the new transparency rule. It takes you five minutes and saves you hassle. Not sure if your situation falls under the law? Just ask your accountant or a lawyer.
GPT-5.6 arrives in Copilot, plus a choice of Claude
GPT-5.6 becomes the default model in Microsoft 365 Copilot, so in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chat. In Word it helps you draft and polish text with less fiddling, in Excel with deeper analysis. In Copilot you can now also choose Claude Opus 4.7 from Anthropic, which is strong at complex, multi-step tasks.
