New rules, smarter help in your email, and scammers sounding more and more convincing: this is the week that affects your admin.

New AI law: chatbots and fake images must be clearly marked from 2 August

From 2 August 2026, it must be clear when you're talking to AI. AI-generated images must also be labelled.

In less than three weeks, part of the European AI Act comes into force. A chatbot will then have to say that it is AI. And images or sound made with AI, such as a deepfake, must carry a label. Almost every Dutch company that uses ChatGPT or Copilot falls under the law as a 'user'. Fines can be steep. The strict rules for high-risk systems have been delayed until December 2027.

What this means for you
Put honesty about AI on paper now

Go through with your team where you use AI: a draft email, a summary, maybe a chatbot for families. Agree that people know when they're talking to AI, and that any text partly made by AI is always checked by a person. Ask your admin whether the settings and agreements are in order. That way you're ready in time for the new rules, without stress in August.

Copilot in Outlook: edit just one part of your email

Microsoft is rolling out an Outlook update in July 2026. You can now select one part of a draft email and ask Copilot to make just that part shorter, warmer, or structured differently. So you don't have to rewrite the whole email. Also new: you can add earlier emails as a source for project notes.
