Project management edition
This week: AI that really finishes your tasks, smarter Copilot in the apps you already use, and why you should never approve a payment on one phone call alone.
Copilot Cowork: AI that finishes a job from start to end
Microsoft rolls out Copilot Cowork worldwide. It delivers finished work, not just a draft.
Microsoft has now made Copilot Cowork available everywhere. You describe a task, and Cowork plans, carries it out, and delivers the finished work. It uses company data through Work IQ to do this. You pay per use with Copilot Credits, and admins can track costs in a dashboard in the admin centre. Microsoft Purview watches over security and rules.
Background for subscribersCowork can take over the small recurring jobs that come back every week: putting together a status report, updating a list, turning a report into a summary. That saves you quarter-hours here and there that add up. But the AI doesn't judge reality, it summarises what's already there. If your tasks are outdated in the system, the report will shine green while your project stalls. Use Cowork for the groundwork and stay the final editor who checks dates and agreements against the source yourself.
Copilot agents now in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
In July, Microsoft rolled out so-called MCP agents to the core apps of Microsoft 365. Through the Copilot window, you can now get help and data without switching between apps. Admins can share custom-built agents in an Agent Store, so colleagues can use them once approved.
