Students edition
This week: free study tools getting smarter, new EU AI rules, and scammers using AI. Plus: what AI actually is.
Google's NotebookLM becomes a stronger study aid
Google's research tool now reasons better and even builds presentations from your own material.
Google updated NotebookLM. The tool can now reason better and even create charts, spreadsheets and presentations. You load in your own material, like your reader or lecture notes. The tool helps you organise loose ideas and pull web sources together into one tidy overview. The update is available worldwide.
Background for subscribersLoad the reader or notes for one subject into a NotebookLM notebook. Make up three exam questions about it and check the page it refers to for each answer. That way you check straight away whether it's correct. Then make an audio overview to revise on the bus or at the gym. Just remember: a summary is a hook to hang things on, not a replacement for the book.
Google Classroom and Gemini get updates for education
Google released updates for Google Classroom, Chromebooks and Gemini. Students get access to study notebooks that adapt to your level, and free exam prep for standardised tests. Teachers can make daily tasks easier.
