LinkedIn drops the writing help: your own voice in outreach messages counts again
The button that rewrote your messages automatically is going away, and a report button for AI waffle is coming.
LinkedIn is removing the 'enhance your post' feature that made messages nicer automatically. In its place comes a lighter spell check that leaves your own tone alone. At the same time, since 3 August 2026 there is a button to flag a message as suspected AI waffle; it then disappears from your own feed. Research earlier showed that over 40% of longer LinkedIn posts are written entirely by AI.
Background for subscribersCandidates are flooded with AI messages that all look alike. Right now, a message that really sounds like you stands out again. Let AI make a first draft if you like, based on five keywords about the role and the candidate, but rewrite one or two sentences so it feels personal. Save your best messages as examples, so your tone does not slide into the grey average.
AI in CV selection: strict rules delayed, but transparency applies now
The strictest requirements of the EU AI Act for AI in hiring (such as CV selection) have been delayed to late 2027 or August 2028. But the transparency duty does apply from 2 August 2026. You already have to be open about where you use AI and keep human oversight on selection decisions.
