This week: AI reads your receipts, LinkedIn cracks down on fake content, and scammers are getting smarter. Here is how you stay in control.

The main story

Fake invoices and fake voices: why you, as a one-person business, are exactly the target

Scammers can now make convincing fake images and fake voices. The one safe rule: always call back on a number you already know.

Experts expect a lot more AI fraud this year. Criminals copy hyper-realistic videos and voices to trick people. Think of a boss asking for an urgent payment, or a "client" who suddenly has a new bank account number. Banks and insurers that use video or voice checks are extra vulnerable. So a short video call is no longer proof that someone is real.

What this means for you
One phone call saves you from an emptied account

Agree on one rule with yourself today: I check every "new bank account number" and every urgent payment request with a phone call to the number I already know. Not the number in the email or the app message, but the number from your own records. Do you have staff? Then make this a team rule, because a colleague who pays quickly is your loss too.

Microsoft Copilot now also records in-person meetings

The Copilot app on your phone can now record conversations on location, for example at a client or in a meeting. The audio goes into your OneDrive and is written out to text automatically. The feature is on by default.
