Project management edition
This week: AI that summarises meetings, builds status reports, and flags risks, plus the EU rules arriving in August.
Copilot Cowork now handles jobs from start to finish, but you pay per use
Microsoft launches an AI that doesn't just think along, but plans and carries out a whole task.
Since 16 June 2026, Copilot Cowork is available worldwide in Microsoft 365. You describe a task and Cowork plans it, carries it out, and delivers a finished result, not a draft. New as well: Cowork can now reason over your Power BI data. You ask a question about a report in plain language and get an answer straight away. The free trial ended on 1 July. From then on, you pay per use through Copilot Credits, 1 US cent per credit.
Background for subscribersBecause you pay per use, this isn't a tool you just let everyone switch on. Ask your admin to set a budget limit through the Cost Management Dashboard, and test Cowork first on one recurring task, for example your weekly status report. Then check whether the underlying tasks are actually up to date. A green report based on outdated data will cost you more time later than making it by hand now.
Copilot Studio: AI agents now operate apps and browsers themselves
In Copilot Studio, 'computer use' is now generally available. Agents can independently operate a browser or desktop program on your behalf. They can also pause to ask for a human decision through Outlook, then continue.
