Fake voices and fake videos: salespeople are a target

Scammers copy voices and faces to trick people into paying. Your best defence is not to look, but to call back.

Deepfake fraud is rising fast in 2026. Criminals make convincing fake videos and cloned voices to get staff to transfer money or share data. The tricks: CEO fraud, fake invoices, and requests to "change" a bank account number. In 2024 there were already almost 10,000 cases of AI fraud, together worth 100 million euros in damage. As a salesperson, you are a target: you talk to unknown prospects and often get asked about money.

What this means for you
Agree on one strict payment rule with your team

You have the most customer contact, and so the highest chance of facing a fake request. Make it a fixed rule: for an unexpected request for money, a changed bank account number, or an urgent discount, always call back on a number you look up yourself. Not the number or link they give you. That one phone call costs you a minute, and it can save a deal, your money, and your credibility.
